What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling originates from Western Medicine principles and scientific research. Dry needling and Acupuncture are both used for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and tension. Dry needling involves inserting a fine needle directly into a trigger point of the tight or achy muscle that may be contributing to pain.

Needles are placed into trigger points within the muscles to treat pain, muscle spasm, nerve irritation and help with muscle relaxation.

When the needles are in the trigger points your therapist can stimulate the needle to help promote increased blood flow, reduce muscle tightness alleviating trigger point sensitivity.

What are the benefits of dry needling?

Dry needling provides relief for muscle stiffness, tension, musculoskeletal pain, and injury. In addition, improves flexibility and increased range of movement. This method can be used to treat both sport and non-sport related injuries, muscle pain and even fibromyalgia.

Dry needling is an adjunct to other therapy modalities including massage and manipulation techniques.
